A tiny Saddleworth village is gearing up for the return of foot-tapping fever with the arrival of the Diggle Blues Festival.
Now in its sixth year, the popular event takes place from Thursday, June 18, to Sunday, June 21, when 10 top-flight bands and artists will perform.
The gigs are staged under cover and at separate times to allow visitors to hear music as they tour the village.
Organiser Dave Wood said: “We plan to give really cool, jeans-in-the-fridge live blues music with free entry to all venues.
“The festival is designed so visitors watch the first band at the first venue, then have time to walk to the second venue, buy a drink, find a seat, and watch the second band, and so on throughout the day.
“It’s a bit like a musical tour of Diggle. As far as we know, it’s the only blues festival with this format and tickets are not required — just turn up and enjoy yourselves.”
The festival takes place indoors with outdoor space for children.
Dave said: quipped: “In the past we have been guilty of billing artists as coming from the U.S. of A. when they have really come from the Uther Side of Ashton, so it was nice to introduce Kent DuChaine from America last year.
“We certainly hope this year’s line up will be every bit as entertaining.”
Although it’s free, voluntary contributions in support of the festival are received with thanks.
