HUNDREDS of Oldhamers called in at the Cancer Research UK Roadshow as it stopped in the town centre this week.
Around 150 people visited the roadshow on each of the three days it was parked outside the Market Hall, gathering advice and information on how to reduce the risk of cancer.
Visitors were given the chance to speak privately to a nurse about cancer as well as take a BMI test to find out whether their weight is within a healthy range, learn more about stopping smoking and pick up useful health information to take away.
Jessica Campbell, senior cancer awareness nurse at Cancer Research UK, said: “We’ve had a great few days in Oldham and engaged with a lot of people who wanted more information about cancer and how to spot the signs and symptoms.
“We hope that the roadshow has helped to ease some fears people may have had about cancer and raise awareness of what they can do to reduce the risk of developing cancer as well as improve their overall health.
“We’ve even had a few people who visited us last time we were in Oldham to get advice about stopping smoking who have come back to tell us how they are doing which is very positive.”
