Double trouble for ‘Love Island’

Date published: 09 June 2015

THERE’LL be double trouble on new reality TV show “Love Island” if Greenfield twins Tony and John Alberti have anything to do with it.
The 29-year-olds jetted to Majorca to join the ITV2 dating show, hosted by “X Factor” presenter Caroline Flack.

The programme launched with a live episode on Sunday which saw 12 contestants immediately paired up when they arrived at the luxury villa.

Tony and John were added a day later with the intention of throwing the initial harmony into disarray.

During the length of the show, the boys and girls will go on dates with different people to see if love blossoms.

As the show progresses, contestants will be eliminated via a mix of nomination by other participants and public votes.

Before they went into the villa, Tony and John — born 20 minutes apart — declared war on their rivals saying they weren’t going in to make friends with the boys and were only interested in the girls.

John said: “The guys are going to hate us and the girls are going to love us.

“Because we are going in late we are going to be the big surprise — they are never going to expect twins.

“As soon as the guys see us they will know it’s game over and as soon as the girls see us they’ll know it’s game on.

“We want all the girls fighting over us. Hopefully there will be two stunning girls in there and we will have one each.”

The twins, property developers who are of Italian heritage, wear matching outfits for maximum impact.

Tony said: “We can definitely win. Being born Italian and twins, it is like winning the lottery. Italians invented romance so we’ll be bringing that in. We can cook our famous Italian meatballs, girls love them.”

But despite their predictions of romance in the villa, the boys say they’ll keep it classy as their parents will be watching.

“Love Island” is on ITV2 at 9pm.
