Murder victim Terry Taylor
THE VICTIM of a suspected murder in the Lake District is an Oldham grandfather.
Police found retired paramedic and father-of-three Terry Taylor (59) injured at the Globe Hotel in Cockermouth in the early hours of Sunday, believed to have been the victim of an assault.
He was rushed to Cumberland Infirmary but pronounced dead on arrival.
A 30-year-old man from Aspatria, near Workington, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Detectives released a picture of Mr Taylor’s distinctive black panther tattoo in a bid to identify him.
Mr Taylor was a family man and retired paramedic who had worked for Greater Manchester Ambulance Service for 25 years.
“Married to wife Debra for 33 years, and father to three grown-up children and two grandchildren, he cared for all and will be greatly missed,” his family said
Det-Supt Cath Thundercloud said: “I would like to thank the public and the media for their help yesterday — with cases like this we often rely on information from local people to help us progress the investigation.”
Cockermouth Main Street closed on Sunday while police investigated an incident at the Globe Hotel.
