A BEEKEEPING group is among four innovative community projects in Oldham to share in a £1.3 million windfall from the Big Lottery Fund.
The projects are among 147 schemes from across the region to share the money. Millbrow Beekeepers’ Association was given £9,811 to run an outreach programme for the community focusing on educating people about bees.
Young people will be able to join a programme of sports, dance and crafts after Oldham Athletic Community Trust’s Greenhill Youth Project received £7,475 from the fund.
IGA Learning Support (ILS) in Oldham will use its share of the funding, totalling £9,069, to increase its provision of IT skills sessions and allotment workshops for people in the local area who do not have English as their first language.
Time Out Oldham will use funding to develop an after-school activity club for children and young people in the area. The project, which received £10,000, will help children develop social skills, confidence and improved relationships for families in the community.
