MORE than 100 people were evacuated after a chemical spill at Saddleworth Business Centre.
One person was taken to hospital with minor burns after 200 millilitres of trifluoracetic acid was split at medical research firm Advance Bio. Neighbouring businesses in Huddersfield Road, Delph, were evacuated shortly before 9.50am on Friday when the fumes set off the fire alarm. Nearby houses were not affected and the main road remained open.
Firefighters from Oldham and Mossley cordoned off area and an officer in an environmental protection suit contained the spill. A decontamination unit attended for a short time as a precaution.
