A SADDLEWORTH primary school has been granted £47,000 to build a “peace garden” for pupils.
St Anne’s Primary School, Lydgate, has a large number of special-needs children, each with learning and sensory requirements.
They often find lunchtimes difficult as the playground is busy and noisy. The garden — funded by the National Lottery Fund — will provide a calm environment away from the bustle of the playground.
Pupils have been involved in designing the garden, which includes a friendship area, a wildflower area, a music zone, a reading area and a mosaic feature.
Jane Fraser, head teacher, said: “Our children have worked alongside staff to produce a wonderful design.”
