Julie’s retro rocket

Julie Henshaw has set up her own business online.
SPOTTING a market for vintage clothing has helped a Failsworth woman set up her own business and ditch the dole.
Julie Henshaw (41) came up with the idea for her online business LazeeDaisy.co.uk while volunteering at an Age Concern charity shop in Failsworth.
With help from the Government’s New Enterprise Allowance scheme, she received help with funding and expert advice to set up her own business.
Julie said: “I noticed there was a big demand for quality, affordable retro goods. More and more people are living on a tight budget.”
A former Failsworth School pupil, Julie worked at the Little Flower florist shop, run by parents Peter and Susan Henshaw for many years but was later jobless.
Referred by a Job Centre adviser to the New Enterprise Allowance scheme, Julie was assigned a business mentor with support firm the Blue Orchid organisation, who helped her with business plan.
Julie said: “My mentor’s support was excellent. She gave me guidance on everything I needed to run a business, such as using social media and doing my own books. I didn’t have a clue beforehand.”
