WHAT was all the fuss about?
Alex Bidolak has proved building Metrolink in Oldham is easy.
The 29 year old from Firwood Park, Chadderton, has built his own tram... using Lego. Alex has been a master model builder at Legoland Discovery Centre at the Trafford Centre since 2010, where he designs, builds and maintains the stunning displays.
It took him about a week to complete the tram model - which he reckons contains 2,213 Lego pieces. Now he’s doing an even bigger job: a model of Oldham Civic Centre!
BACK at the real Metrolink, the high-profile crackdown on selfish drivers by the council continues.
One driver parked on the tram lines just in front of the Chronicle offices in UNion Street, forcing cars and buses to drive around her silver VW Beetle. The driver remained oblivious, apparently texting.
She moved off only when a tram came up behind and sounded its horn.
One eye-witness said: “The driver stopped on the tram lines for over 10 minutes. I could see the tram driver and passengers rolling their eyes and tutting at the motorist as it was finally allowed to move.
“Metrolink must be getting frustrated these problems with parking continue.”
The council has adopted a zero-tolerance approach with drivers who park on pavements and double yellow lines, impeding the trams
