Taste of success for a sweet little apprentice

A LITTLE girl was literally a kid in a candy store when she took over a Haribo factory.

Nine-year-old Paris Phillips, from Oldham, beat 12 other children in a national competition to be named a Haribo Little Apprentice — giving her the chance to run and experience the exciting sights and smells of the famous sweet factory in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

As a Little Apprentice, Paris worked with the Haribo team, met brand mascot Goldbear, took a tour around the factory, tasted brand new treats and came up with her own imaginative sweet suggestions, flavours and textures.

To win the prize she had to explain what she would do if she ran the factory for a day and what sweet treat she would invent.

Haribo’s marketing manager Katy Clark said the team loved the amount of effort behind Paris’s submission.

“From her entry we could see that she would make a fantastic Little Apprentice,” she said.

“There is no doubt that this competition is what most children, and adults, dream about.”

Paris said: “It was fantastic. Now I know how to produce Haribo. My favourite part was going around the factory.”
