School scores with pitch upgrade

Failsworth School receives £317,348 from Football Foundation to refurbish 2G pitch. Ann Hannaghan (Chair of Governors), Phil Quirk (Deputy Head), Natalie Woodford (FA Football Development Manager), John Meagher (Headteacher), Jim Ryan (Fails School Director of Support Services) and Andrea Atkinson (Deputy Head). FAILSWORTH School has received a £317,348 sporting boost.
The grant from the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity, will upgrade the school’s full-size artificial pitch.
The new 3G pitch and pavilion will be used by pupils and the local community.
The Football Foundation is funded by the Premier League, the Football Association and Sport England.
Since it was launched in 2000, it has awarded around 8,000 grants worth more than £420 million towards improving grassroots sport. This has then been used to used to attract additional partnership funding of over £520 million.
Delighted Failsworth head teacher John Meagher said: “This will provide a lasting legacy for many generations of students in the Failsworth area.
“I am extremely grateful for all the support given through this rigorous process by a range of partners, the Football Foundation, Sport England and the local authority.”
