KITTED out: pupils of the school show off their Chaddy Park FC gear
ORPHANS in Kenya are now playing football in Chaddy Park kit.
The club has donated some of its old strip after setting up a link with Hadassah Destitute Orphan School in Nakuru. Club member Jenny Kennedy spent 10 days in the region helping out and meeting the children last year.
When she started raising money for a return visit last month, the club helped out and arranged for her to take 40 kits, flags and scarves in her luggage to donate to the school.
Terry Jennings, the club’s vice-chairman, said: “It is down to us to raise money so we can get a crate sent over. We want it to be full of kit, boots, football posts and school supplies, such as paper, books and pens. We are hoping to send a few footballs over as well.
“At the moment we are in the process of working out details of events to raise the money we need.”
He added: “While Jenny was there, the head master agreed to change the school’s name to Chadderton Park Destitute Orphan School because of our support!”
The club was awarded an FA equality award in February for setting up the link with the school.
