Ashway Gap overspill channel at Dovestone Reservoir last Friday

OLDHAM Mountain Rescue team snapped this picture of a raging torrent flooding through Ashway Gap at Dovestone reservoir.

The constant downpours are putting massive strain on rivers and waterways, which are struggling to cope as a high water table leaves ground saturated and unable to take up the excess water.

Walkers are being warned to take extra care and steer clear of potentially dangerous waterways when visiting areas such as Dovestone.
