Easing the pain of traumatic stress

A FORMER soldier tortured by his military past is devoting his life to easing the suffering of others.

Muhammad Isaq, who saw action in Iraq, Bosnia and Northern Ireland with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, has first-hand experience of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

When he realised he was losing more former comrades to PTSD than on the battlefields, he knew something drastic had to be done.

He has set up the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Group, which meets weekly in Chadderton Court and welcomes anyone suffering from the condition, no matter what the circumstances.

“I saw some horrific things, especially during my time in Bosnia, in Kosovo,” said the 45-year-old father-of-four, from Royton.

“My support group is the only one of its kind, for anyone who needs the help. We even have women who’ve suffered it following childbirth.”

For more information on the group call 07400 248 444 or visit the PTSD UK Facebook page.
