Date published: 10 May 2012
POLICE are investigating a petrol bomb attack which destroyed a conservatory at a house in Coppice.
Firefighters from Hollins and Oldham were called to Wye Street at around 9am on Tuesday and arrived to find the conservatory engulfed in flames.
The attacker had smashed a window with a brick and poured petrol from a 5-litre can into the conservatory before setting it alight. Crews managed to stop the blaze spreading, though the kitchen suffered smoke damage.
No one was in the end terrace home at the time of the attack. Fire investigators and a team of sniffer dogs were sent to the scene. Police are treating the case as arson with intent to endanger life.
