QUALIFIER . . . swimmer Ben Proctor is all set for the Paralympic Games
A SADDLEWORTH swimming star is celebrating after being selected for Great Britain’s Paralympic team.
Ben Procter (22), from Diggle, will now compete in the 200m freestyle at London’s 2012 Paralympic Games.
Ben won his place after winning a silver medal at this year’s British Gas Swimming Championships, also held in London, where he recorded the second-fastest time in the world for his heat.
Ben, who trains at the High Performance Centre in Manchester and is an honorary member of Saddleworth Swimming Club, was competing in the section for people with learning disabilities.
He’ll now step up his training, starting with a trip to Majorca next month, with his British team mates.
