Rapist Mohammed Alim
Beast put behind bars for seven years
THE father of a 15-year-old rape victim helped catch his daughter’s attacker in a chance encounter.
Sex beast Mohammed Alim, (30), was pointed out by his victim in Victoria Street, Chadderton, as they drove past the spot where he had raped her just days before.
The stunned dad leapt from the car and sprinted after the man, cornering and capturing him with the help of near-by PCSOs.
Alim was jailed for seven years and four months at Manchester Crown Court on Friday. The court heard how the victim had been walking in Victoria Street at 9.40pm on Saturday, September 18, last year, when she noticed she was being followed.
She was then subject to a horrific ordeal as Alim grabbed her by the neck, banged her head while forcing her into an alleyway and raping her.
He then sexually assaulted her before stealing her handbag and fleeing the scene.
But his luck ran out when he was arrested during the bizarre turn of events, with forensic evidence linking him to the crime. Alim, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to rape, sexual assault and theft and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ register.
He has also been disqualified from working with children for life.
Det Cons Tim Hegarty of the Sexual Offences Unit said: “This was a truly horrendous ordeal for the young victim and the impact of this will always remain with her.
“It was vital that this dangerous man was apprehended at the earliest opportunity. The victim and her family have been extremely courageous throughout this investigation. They, together with the local community, played a vital part in our investigation, which we are extremely grateful for.
“Thankfully rape offences like this are extremely rare in Oldham and Greater Manchester in general, but I hope this case sends a strong message about how GMP will investigate such horrendous crimes until we bring offenders to justice.”
