Face of a betting shop raider

POLICE are hunting for this robber who stole cash after targeting a woman as she opened up a betting shop.

At about 9.55am on Saturday, the woman was opening the Ladbrokes shop in Featherstall Road North, Coldhurst, when the offender followed her in and demanded cash.

Thinking he was armed, she handed over a quantity of cash, including £100 in pound coins. A CCTV image of the robber has now been released by detectives. He is described as Asian, about 5ft 9in tall, in his early 20s, of small build and with a spotty complexion.

The thief escaped with the cash and was last seen running up an alley between Davies Street and Ward Street.

Det Cons Simon Hurdley, of Oldham CID, said: “If they think they know who this person, call me. I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have been approached by someone trying to change a large amount of pound coins.
