Fox gets through cat flap

A ROYTON father is warning parents to be on their guard after a fox got into his kitchen through the cat flap.
Ian Littler, of Daniel Street, was making breakfast when his five-year-old son Ashton opened the back door to let the family’s pet cat George outside.
He said: “All of a sudden Ashton shouted ‘daddy, look at this’, so I went over and there was a fox in the porch. It had got in through the cat flap and looked mangy and really thin.
“It had its ears pinned back and its back arched with all its teeth bared. George was hissing and trying to stand his ground. Ashton was more curious than scared as he’s never been that close to a fox before.
“The fox was only small but it looked really hungry and I don’t think it would have thought twice about attacking either Ashton or George for food.
“As quick as I could, I grabbed Ashton and George back into the kitchen and slammed the back door shut. The fox ran back through the cat flap and out of the garden.
“I’ve sealed the cat flap shut now as I can’t risk that happening again as it could be much worse next time.
“I just want to warn other parents and pet owners to be aware.
