MARIE Curie Cancer Care is appealing for help from kind-hearted Oldhamers keen to get fit.
Organisers of The Great Manchester Run have re-opened the ballot for places for the first time after the initial 28,000 positions were filled within a week.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is hoping to raise much-needed funds in the Oldham area to provide care for terminally ill cancer patients and needs Oldhamers to sign up and help.
Local Marie Curie representative Michelle Bate said: “If you fancy joining tens of thousands of people pouring through the heart of Manchester then the Great Manchester Run is for you.
“At 10km it’s still a big challenge, but you’ve got until May 15 to get into peak condition.”
Everyone who signs up to take part for Marie Curie Cancer Care will automatically become a part of the Daffodil Team.
Every Daffodil Team member receives a training guide, a free Nike Dri-FIT technical race vest and a cheering kit for family and friends.
Michelle added: “If your new year’s resolution is to get fit, training for a Great Run is the ideal way to ensure you keep to it.
“You’ll also have the extra satisfaction of knowing that every step you take is helping us raise much-needed funds for local cancer patients.
“Every £20 raised will provide an hour of Marie Curie nursing care.
“The most important thing is to register for your place now before they run out.”
