OFFICES at a medical centre were wrecked after a stolen car ploughed through a wall.

But bosses at Donald Wilde centre, in Rochdale Road, Coldhurst, say it’s business as usual despite severe damage.

Police were called just after 7pm on Monday when the stolen Audi TT sports car collided with a Mazda minivan and then crashed into the building, putting two offices out of action. But patient-waiting areas were not affected.

Two youths ran off after managing to climb out of the wrecked car, which had earlier been stolen from a house in Maplewood Close, Royton. A number of stolen items were recovered from the vehicle.

A practice manager said: “It was dreadful. There was a lot of damage. We can’t use two offices but at the moment we are able to carry on as normal. The patients are quite safe.

“We were here until 11pm and had someone in to secure the premises for us.”

Also smashed was a computer, a filing cabinet and desk furniture.

A photocopier in another room was damaged after the shockwave from the collision caused it to fly off a table.

Police inquiries are continuing.
