The girlfriend of a talented Google graphic designer who died from epilepsy yesterday paid tribute to a “funny, clever, light of my life”.

Oldham-born Kyle McBride (32) was found collapsed behind the front door of his London home by Rashida Wellington, who had gone to visit him, an inquest heard.

Mr McBride, who had a masters degree in graphic design, created a number of the trademark drawings used on the home page of the Google search engine.

He studied at Huddersfield University before moving to London, where he worked for the Internet giant, Sky television, the Ministry of Defence, and more recently for architect M Moser, in Aldwych, as a 3D visualiser.

Mr McBride was diagnosed with epilepsy many years ago, but hadn’t suffered a fit for three years.

On the afternoon of July 11 his girl friend raised the alarm when he didn’t answer the door of his flat. A post-mortem examination concluded he died after an epileptic fit.

His older sister Adele McBride, from Oldham, tearfully described her brother as a “very, very funny person with a very dry sense of humour”.

“He always called us all stupid names and had silly names for things.

Assistant deputy Southwark coroner Doreen Lawrence said he had a history of epilepsy which caused his deathand recorded a verdict of natural causes.

She added: ‘He was a funny person. He was sensitive, loving and a very clever person.’
