Plans for the a sleek new function room at the Clough Manor in Denshaw were unveiled yesterday.
The first-floor extension will provide a 250-seater venue with a stunning mezzanine floor looking out over the moors. Glass balconies will contrast with the traditional stone design, planned to be sympathetic to the original building.
Alan Tupman (59), who took over the former La Pergola in 2007, has spent £1 million refurbishing the hotel and restaurant.
Now he plans to convert part of the hotel into a luxury gym and spa and boost his star rating.
He said: “When it is done it will be the jewel in the crown for Saddleworth and a fantastic venue which will bring more business into the area.
“The best part of the hotel is the views and this will take full advantage of that, it will be incredible.”
An extension to the car park is also suggested as well as the project which will be built above the existing kitchens at the Rochdale Road hotel.
The newly-installed kitchens at the venue were one of the first in the borough to be rated five stars for cleanliness by Oldham Council.
A planning application is yet to be submitted.
