Date published: 15 December 2010
HOT on the heels of Greater Manchester Police’s recent “tweet-athon”, the RSPCA is taking to Twitter to reveal its varied work.
The charity is using the social networking site to post a whole host of animal emergency calls, as they happen, today. Inspector Tony Woodley is communications and liaison officer for the RSPCA.
He said: “For the last couple of months I’ve been tweeting a few incidents a day, but I’m going for a marathon push to show the situations RSPCA officers face on a daily basis and the number of animals we help.
“Feedback on Twitter has been excellent and people are interested to know about the RSPCA’s frontline work, although they are understandably shocked by the extent of the cruelty and neglect.”
Incidents tweeted so far include defenceless cats left in boxes and dogs being kicked in the face.
The charity received it dealt with a staggering 1.25 million calls last year alone.
