Date published: 19 August 2010
A BUSY criminal is thought to have carried out 11 burglaries in less than four hours in Chadderton on Sunday morning.
The burglaries took place between 2.30am and 6.20am on the Firwood Park estate. The offender has been described as a white male, in his early 20s, of stocky build and with short, cropped hair. He was wearing a dark bomber jacket.
Patrols have been increased in the area and letters have been sent to residents to let them know that burglars are operating in their area. It also provides advice on how to keep their homes safe.
DC Leigh Carnally, of the volume crime team, said: “We are determined to catch the person responsible for these distressing crimes. The stolen car was driven off at speed through the Firwood Park Estate and on to Middleton Road at about 6.15am. If you saw the car or anyone who fits the description of the offender or have any information about who is responsible, then please contact the team on 0161-856 9080.
“I also want to reassure Oldham residents that burglary has dropped by 17.6 per cent between April and July 2010 compared with the same period last year, and we are continuing to do everything we can to bringing offenders to justice.”
