Vintage back in vogue

Date published: 28 July 2010

MEMORIES and nostalgia are in store for visitors to Age Concern’s charity shop in Wickentree Lane, Wrigley Head, Failsworth.

The front room of the shop has been turned into a vintage emporium, where the old adage of one person’s rubbish is another’s treasure comes to life.

The organisation relies heavily on income from its shops to support services to older people in the borough and it’s bric-a-brac and second-hand furniture store has proved a real hit.

Anika Dawson, marketing officer for Age Concern Oldham, said: “Vintage is very in fashion at the moment.

“We have everything from clothing to jewellery and furniture.”

The charity has another vintage emporium in George Street, Oldham. Its success sparked the idea to open a second store.

The Wrigley Head shop is open on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am-4pm, and on Sundays from 11am-4pm.

Anyone who could spare a few hours a week to help out at any of Age Concern’s shops in and around Oldham should call 0161-633 0213.
