Jim promoted to fire deputy

A new deputy county fire officer has been appointed for Greater Manchester.
Jim Owen was previously the county’s assistant county fire officer for fire safety. He joined Greater Manchester in 2008 from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, where he started his career in 1985.
During the next 15 years, he carried out a number of operational and fire-safety roles including station commander at Blackburn fire station. In 2003 he was promoted into the fire risk-management department, then he took over responsibility for the fire stations and fire-safety teams across central and west Lancashire.
Mr Owen represents the North-West Fire and Rescue Services on the chief fire officer association’s national fire-safety committee.
