OLDHAMERS are urged to “get them knees up” and join in a fundraising aerobathon.

The NSPCC is organising Monday’s event to raise money for the charity’s Child’s Voice Appeal.

The sponsored workout will run from 6-8pm at leisure centres across the country led by qualified instructors.

Former “Coronation Street” star Scott Wright is supporting the event at his gym, Heavenly Bodies Fitness Club in Moorside.

Scott said: “I am delighted to be supporting the NSPCC with its biggest ever aerobathon event.

“It will be an energetic workout and is a great way to blitz the winter calories and have fun at the same time, while helping to raise money to help vulnerable children and young people.”

Nathalie Coverley, the NSPCC’s fundraising manager in Oldham said: “This is the first year the NSPCC has run such a large event.

“It promises to be great fun so why not sign up with friends, family and colleagues and encourage anyone you know? We hope to see hundreds of people taking part to help raise money for our Child’s Voice Appeal.”

With public support, the appeal will help expand the NSPCC’s vital helpline services — ChildLine, the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline for children, and the NSPCC Helpline for adults concerned about a child.

Scott will also be appearing with his band at the forthcoming ChildLine Ball at the Lowry Hotel in Salford Quays on Saturday, March 6. Call 0161-628 1209 or email northwestappeals@nspcc.org.uk for tickets.

To register for the aerobathon, call 0161-628 1209, email aerobathonnw@nspcc.org.uk, visit www.nspcc.org.uk/aerobathon , or pick up a leaflet in leisure centres.

Registration costs £5 which includes entry to the event and an NSPCC aerobathon t-shirt.
