FLYING high . . . town crier Michael Woolley kicks off Lancashire Day celebrations
PROUD Roytonians lined the streets of the district centre to celebrate Lancashire Day.
Town crier Michael Woolley donned his finest garb to read out the Lancashire Day proclamation outside Royton Library.
Councillor John Dillon, community champion for Royton, Shaw and Crompton, said: “In 1997, it was decided to celebrate every November 27 as Lancashire Day as it was the day in 1925 that Lancashire sent its first representative to parliament.
“It is something that Oldham Council is very happy to support.”
