A TEENAGER was injured after being barged from his motorcycle by a car in an alleged racially-motivated attacked.
Kane Duffy (18), from Hollins, was left with a cracked bone in his wrist and his new £800 125cc motorcycle was wrecked after the hit-and-run in Werneth at 12.50am on Wednesday.
He was on his way to meet his scooter-riding girlfriend, Emma, to escort her home from a late-shift at a Middleton gym, when the incident happened in Windsor Road.
He says a group of Asian men in a car, believed to be a Ford Focus, deliberately drove into him — and then a couple of minutes later drove slowly past as he lay on the ground.
Kane was able to call his mum, Susan Hallsworth, who frantically tried to find him before taking him to hospital, where he was kept in overnight.
Susan said: “A car has come along and taken him off his bike. The bike was smashed up. They knew they had hit him and he had come off. They drove off and a couple of minutes later have gone back again.
“It was deliberate and I feel it was a racially-motivated attack. It was not your average street, it’s a very wide road and well-lit area. Kane’s very cautious with his new bike and they just totally took him out.
“He’s devastated but thank God he’s not more seriously injured.
“What’s hurting him is he’s been struggling to find work but he’s just got an apprenticeship at Oldham Sports Centre and now can’t go next week.”
Kane has fallen victim before when he was beaten up by a gang during the Oldham riots.
Susan said: “All he said this morning was ‘Mum, I want to get out of this country.’”
She said the police responded quickly and found a car matching the description with damage down one side.
A police spokesman said investigations are ongoing.
