Sponsors backing growth of awards

BUSINESSES in Oldham are once again rallying to the call for support for the second One Oldham Business Awards.

Last year’s inaugural event, which culminated with a spectacular presentation evening and gala dinner at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham, attracted support from across the spectrum of the borough’s business community.

Once again the event has attracted genuine and enthusiastic support with NatWest once again the title sponsors.

In addition to the Oldham Chronicle and Oldham Council, eight businesses and organisations have signed up to put hard cash into the process. They are:

Web Applications Ltd., of Windsor Works, Mumps;

Innovation Technology Ltd., Derker Street, Derker;

Oldham Town Centre Partnership;

BusinessLink Northwest;

Women in Business Oldham/NatWest;

Oldham Sixth Form College;

The Oldham College;

BAE Systems, Greengate, Chadderton.

In addition, a number of Oldham businesses have committed support as associate sponsors and they will be represented and recognised at the Oscars-style black tie dinner which this year takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham, on Monday, March 22.

Last year’s event was supported by a raft of businesses from across the borough, who became associate sponsors and the organisers are hoping that this support will be forthcoming once again.

Last year more than 70 nominations were received for the eight categories and the Steering Committee, chaired by Steve Kilroy from BAE Systems, is confident that this figure can be beaten.

He said: “Last year we stepped into the unknown and we were delighted with the support we received —not only from our sponsors but from the wider business community who made the event such a success through the sheer volume of nominations.

“This time around, with last year’s success to build upon, I am confident that we can surpass that total and once gain give the judging panels a real headache by the sheer quality of the entries.”
