Online entry to boost participation

Date published: 21 October 2009

AN innovation this year for the One Oldham Business Awards is online entry — which the organisers expect will encourage more entries.

Visit oldhambusinessawards.co.uk to access the entry form.

The form can be found via links on the Oldham Evening Chronicle website, the Oldham Council website, Greater Manchester Chamber site and New Image PR site.

There is a drop-down list of the nine categories and the rest is an easy-to-follow online form requiring the data the judges need to make their initial decisions.

Forms can be submitted via the click of a mouse.

From these forms — and the traditional hard-copy entries submitted from a 2,500 mailshot plus the forms which appear periodically in the Chronicle — the judging panels will create shortlists.

Each of the finalists will be visited by the panels, which will comprise a representative of the main sponsor of the category, a member of the NatWest Business Banking Team and a representative from the steering committee.

Following these deliberations — in February next year — the decisions will be handed in a sealed envelope to the Chronicle Business desk, to be opened on the night of the gala dinner.

Each of the finalists in each of the nine categories will have tickets to the presentation evening at the Queen Elizabeth II Hall on Monday, March 22.
