Snapshot Oldham, 2009

AS 2009 draws to a close, the Chronicle is asking for your images that sum up the sunny side of Oldham at the end of the first decade of the new Millennium.

In conjunction with Oldham Works the Chronicle is starting a unique competition to capture a snapshot of Oldhamers in 2009.

We’re calling on readers of all generations and in all places to snap a picture of themselves, their family, home or any image that sums up Oldham in 2009. You could be at work, at school or enjoying a leisure activity. Pictures could be of some of Oldham’s stunning countryside and parks or a landmark building like Chadderton Town Hall.

And with nearly 50,000 Oldhamers using social networking internet site Facebook, we’re linking it to the very first official Oldham Evening Chronicle Facebook page. Using Facebook, readers can upload images to share online. All images uploaded will be available to share and form part of what we hope to be the biggest selection Oldhamer’s pictures on the web.

We’ll also publish as many images as possible in the last Chronicle editions of 2009, with some of our favourite images from the last 10 years

You can also send in pictures taken this decade to share your memories with others..

Every picture submitted will be entered in our competition for a chance to win, courtesy of Kodak Express Huddersfield Rd , their Oldham snapshot as a piece of Canvas Art. There are two runner’s up prizes of smaller canvas prints. The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges.

To enter via our facebook page please follow these steps

1. First you must be a member of facebook – it’s free and easy to join you just need an email address.

2. Find the Oldham Chronicle – just type in our name and look under pages.

3. Then BECOME A FAN. To participate in this page, firstly click on 'Become a Fan' at the top of the page.

4. Then Click on the icon for photos at the top of the page.

5. You can then upload your pictures and they will appear on our page under fan pictures.

All images from fans added to our Facebook page will be eligible for entry and possible publication.

Entries must be received by noon on December 18, 2009.
