Sunday now fun day at Gallery Oldham

Date published: 09 October 2009

SUNDAY is now fun day at Gallery Oldham, thanks to a new free event programme starting this weekend.

Painting, music and film fun are just some of a wide range of events taking place over the next few weeks.

Creative Family Fun launches the calendar on Sunday. It is a session where families can look around the Gallery’s current exhibitions and make their own art treasure in a hands-on workshop of painting, drawing and craft activities.

Next Sunday is Sunday Morning Music featuring some of the North-West’s most popular ensembles.

Classical music from composers such as Haydn and Brahms will be performed by The Chagall Ensemble.

Family Friendly Film Club begins on November 1 and features a series of funny animations and short films.

The first screening of “Night Time Tales” includes a collection of magical stories suitable for children aged five and under.

Councillor John McCann, cabinet member for community services and housing, said: “We hope the Sunday events will prove popular with people of all ages from across Oldham.

“The Gallery is there to be enjoyed by everyone and we hope the new varied event programme encourages more people than ever to visit the gallery.”

All events are free and start at 11am, although booking is essential for Sunday Morning Music and Family Friendly Film Club.
