Be quick to grab school places
Date published: 28 September 2009
PARENTS whose children start school next September — primary or secondary — are being urged to be quick off the mark with applications.
Oldham Council’s service for secondary places is on-line now.
On-line primary applications are available from November.
Councillor Kay Knox, Cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “This year the council is encouraging parents, wherever possible, to get their application in early and on-line. The benefits of an on-line application are that it is faster, simpler and easier.
“It guides people through the process and enables them to make changes right up to the deadline date if required.
“There is a lot of information in the admissions pages which will give parents up-to-date information to help them understand the process and help them make their choice of school.
“Parents can also be assured that their application has been received as they will immediately receive a confirmation e-mail.
“Also, allocation details will be made available electronically so there should be no worries about applications being lost in the post.”
Complete the on-line application free at any Oldham library.
