A BUDDING nine-year-old actor from Shaw has just got his big break after landing a role in “Hollyoaks Later”.
Harrison Rhodes, from Knowl Road, has scooped a top role at his first television audition. The youngster will play a key role in two episodes of the spin-off series of the teenage soap next Wednesday and Friday.
Young Harrison is a keen performer and has been attending a drama classes in Rochdale for the past four years. He travelled to Lime studios in Liverpool in June with his father Simon Rhodes for the audition, and filming took place during the summer holidays.
Mr Rhodes (42) said: “It was his first audition for a TV part and he had to learn a few lines and audition alone while I waited for him.
“There were lots of other lads there so I just thought it would be good experience for him. We heard nothing for three weeks and then they called to say he had got it.”
Harrison had always has a keen interest in acting, said Mr Rhodes, who is hoping that a successful part in the series could lead to bigger and better things. He said: “Both he and his younger brother, Daniel (6), have auditioned for the new Heinz Baked Beans advertisement, so we are waiting to hear about that. Both myself and his mum Lisa are very proud of him and will support him in whatever career he wants to follow.”
