Police investigate possible link with Junaid murder
An Oldham man has been arrested on suspicion of gun crime by officers investigating a Salford murder which may be linked to a Chadderton shooting.
Police armed with a warrant swooped on Groby Street, Hathershaw, on Tuesday, at 8.30am.
Their search uncovered 21 live rounds and a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of ammunition.
He has been bailed until November 19 for further police inquiries.
Detectives are investigating who shot shop worker Nasar Hussain (30) six times in the chest and stomach at Brookhouse Wines in Salford in July.
They also want to know if that death is linked to the gunning down of 21-year-old Junaid Khan at the Block Lane surgery car park in Chadderton, five days later.
Junaid, of Cotton Mill Crescent, was shot from behind in the legs and groin a number of times then shot again at close range with an automatic weapon.
After the latest arrest Det Supt Mary Doyle said: “Seizures like this are part of our commitment to having gun-free streets in Greater Manchester. We hope it is reassuring to our communities that we have taken these bullets off the streets.”
Two men have been charged with the Salford murder: Simeon Henderson (27), of no fixed abode, and Ryan Manning (21), of Bird Street, Higher Ince.
Eleven people previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder are on police bail.
