Barrels of cheer for birthday band

MEMBERS of Boarshurst Silver Band will swop blowing horns for pulling pints at a beer festival to mark their 160th anniversary.

The festival will be held at Boarshurst Band Club in Greenfield on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, from noon.

Over 20 different cask beers will be on sale from breweries located all around the North of England.

Breweries supporting the event are Beartown, Greenfield, Millstones, All Gates, Whale Bone, Hawkshead, George Wright, Hart, Old Bear, Wold Top, Thwaites and Robinsons.
Tickets, which are £5 per day, can be bought in advance from Dave Ashworth on 07785 257129.

Proceeds will be donated to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, where Mr Ashworth’s grand-daughter — 15-weeks-old Michaela — is in intensive care awaiting a heart operation.
