Party in the Park tickets warning

Organisers of Delph’s famous Party in the Park today issued a warning to music lovers: “If you don’t have tickets, don’t come.”

A record turn-out is expected at the event to be staged on Saturday at Delph and Dobcross cricket ground, in Huddersfield Road.

And local entrepreneur Phil Beckwith, speaking on behalf of the Wake Up Delph team, said: “Tickets sold out weeks ago.

“We are keeping a watchful eye on the weather but the event promises to be a real bonanza with a terrific variety of music and line up of top artistes to appeal to everyone. It should be a wonderful day out.

“But anyone without a ticket should not both coming, ” he added. “Our 60-strong team has worked really hard for weeks to make sure it’s a success.”

About 1,700 revellers, including families, are expected to throng the club ground to dance, eat and drink at the marathon event.

The party is the fourth to be held to fund-raise for key village activities and enhance community life including village Christmas lights.

The show will open with a rousing performance from Delph Band before acclaimed top North West tenor, Victor Michael, takes to the stage.

Pop fans will be well catered for with a performance from David Lowry who will provide a Robbie Williams Tribute.

And the legendary Backbeat Beatles, who hail from Liverpool and are reckoned to be one of the country’s finest groups, are expected to pay a tribute to the Fab Four.

The event will close with Delph Band, accompanied by Victor Michael, performing “Land of Hope and Glory”, “Jerusalem” and other favourites, to a backdrop of a spectacular fireworks display.
