THE signs are that burglars are being watched in Hathershaw and Fitton Hill.
New Home Watch signs have gone up across the area to let would-be criminals know a close eye is being kept on them by residents and police.
Peter Lee, the police’s watch administrator, said: “We have a very active Home Watch scheme running throughout the area and these signs, funded by New Deal for Communities, will help reinforce our message to criminals that they are not welcome in Hathershaw and Fitton Hill.
“As part of Operation Storm, Greater Manchester Police’s crackdown on burglary, the public are being encouraged to provide us with information that can help bring criminals to justice.
“Home Watch is an ideal way to bring residents together to share information, act as the eyes and ears of the neighbourhood and help police in the fight against crime.”
Some insurance companies can offer cheaper premiums if residents are part of a Home Watch scheme.
