NICOLA Shenton has certainly got reason to smile — the bright Hulme Grammar School pupil scooped 9.5 straight A*s.

And there were 22 fellow students achieving at least 8.5 A* or A grades joining in the celebrations.

The overall pass rate at the school was 92 per cent with 52 per cent of the girls’ grades and 36 per cent of the boys’ grades at A* or A.

Principal Dr Paul Neeson said: “We are delighted with our pupils’ success. These results will provide firm foundations for their future studies.”
