Moorhaven Nursing Home, Ripponden Road, Oldham.
STAFF at a Watersheddings care home are celebrating a boosted CQC rating after health inspectors found them to be "good" in every category.
At the time of their previous inspection in September 2016, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) discovered five breaches at Moorhaven Care Home and said it 'required improvement'.
The results of a re-inspection in May this year rated the home 'good' in all five assessed areas: safety, care, responsiveness, effectiveness and quality of leadership.
Moorhaven, based in Ripponden Road, felt the previous inspection was "not a reflection" of their care but were "very pleased" with the new grading.
Assistant director and registered provider Sarah Wooliscroft said staff are "fully committed" to becoming an 'outstanding' home.
The CQC said in their latest report: "We found five regulatory breaches of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 during our inspection last September, relating to consent, safe care and treatment, staffing, recruitment and training, and good governance.
"Following the inspection, the provider sent us an action plan which stated these would be addressed. In May, we found improvements had been made and there were no breaches."
In the eight months between inspections, the home has been redecorated, recruitment processes have been addressed and training records updated.
Residents at the 33-bed accommodation received their medicines safely and timely, and had their mental and physical needs monitored by staff.
The CQC said: "People who lived at Moorhaven told us they felt safe. Recruitment processes ensured only suitable staff were employed and staff had a good understanding of safeguarding procedures. All staff received regular supervision and a yearly appraisal."
Inspectors found a "friendly and open atmosphere" where residents were treated with respect and in a "person-centred" way.
Staff were also said to show a good understanding of how people liked their care to be delivered, which was in turn reflected in care plans.
Ms Wooliscroft said: "We are very pleased that following the re-inspection of Moorhaven, the good rating now reflects the care we deliver to our residents.
"Moorhaven has always enjoyed consistently good inspections over the years and we feel the inspection which was carried out in November last year was not a reflection of our service. This rating has now brought Moorhaven in line with the majority of homes in our group. We have an excellent manager and a stable group of staff at Moorhaven, who treat our residents like members of their own families."
