SUPERHEROES, Princesses and even a few members of the Walking Dead will be entertaining Oldhamers as the town's Ham Fest comic convention returns this summer.
The event, on August 20, will see Oldham Leisure Centre transformed with sci-fi sets, magical characters and a host of fun for geeks and comic fans.
Now in its second year, the convention promises to be bigger and better with some of the North-West's best cosplayers and entertainers already signed up to make an appearance.
Harry Potter fans will be in for a real treat as the actual Hedwig owl from the movie franchise, along with other animals from the series, will be attending with the bird's trainer on hand to answer questions about filming on set.
Fantastic
Organiser Loz Copping, who created Ham Fest with Chris Lack, said: "Last year, we had just a few weeks to pull everything together.
"It was a fantastic event and people really enjoyed themselves, but this year it will be even better.
"We've already been preparing for Ham Fest for two months and have so many things ready and attractions signed up.
"It should be great for anyone, especially families as there will be 70 characters for people to meet and have their photograph taken with.
"We will also be raising money for the Link4Pink team at the Victoria Breast Cancer Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital again this year, a charity close to our hearts."
Loz, who is also known as Captain Jack Sparrow of Captain Jack's Prop Shack, had also been busy with Chris creating new sets for the big event, with The Walking Dead, The Terminator and the Harry Potter Honeydukes designs all set to make an appearance.
Anyone dressed as their favourite character can enter cosplay competitions on the day. There will also be a Harry Potter-inspired tea party, special FX make-up, body painting, video game consoles and a wide selection of movie-themed products available to purchase.
Tickets are £7 for adults, £5 for children of £20 for a family ticket
