A PRIMARY school in Lees has been shortlisted for its efforts to keep the city green by producing a video advert.
Children at Hey with Zion Primary School designed a commercial for social media as part of a city-wide competition to raise awareness about poor air quality.
The school submitted two videos, one of which was among 13 radio or video adverts shortlisted by organisers Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
A total of 39 primary schools took part in the competition which coincided with the UK's first national Clean Air Day on June 15.
In their video, Hey with Zion pupils said: "Let's help reduce air pollution.
"We could stop using cars as much as we do. We could use tram, bus or train. We could use our legs as well. It helps our lungs stay healthier too."
The catchy 37-second video, packed with transport sound effects and singing, points viewers towards TfGM's website for more information.
The challenge gave Year 3 to 6 pupils the opportunity to learn more about the causes of air pollution as well as how to protect themselves and the environment.
Helen Smith, TfGM's head of logistics, environment and active travel, said: "You can't see air pollution but, unfortunately, our young people breathe in dangerous pollutants every day on their way to school or while playing on our streets.
"The competition has really driven home the message about this important issue, which affects them and their families."
A Social Media Challenge is now under way to see which of the shortlisted adverts can attract the most views on YouTube.
The shortlisted entries will be broadcast at an event at HOME theatre next month, where a panel of judges will select the best video advert, audio advert and announce the Social Media Challenge winner.
