A CONVENIENCE store worker was beaten with a car wrench by thieves who stole cash and cigarettes.
Two men with a knife threatened the man at Shaw Road Convenience Store before hitting him with the wrench.
They fled the scene in Shaw with their haul in a silver Fiat Punto. The victim was taken to hospital with serious head injuries where he remains in a stable condition.
Police were called to the violent robbery at 1.55pm yesterday and are now appealing for information.
Although the investigation is in its early stages, police believe this to be linked to a robbery that took place at the same shop on Sunday.
Detectives investigating both incidents have released the image of a man they are keen to speak to as part of their enquiries.
Detective Constable Matthew Adshead said: "This was a brutal assault which has left a man in hospital with a very serious head injury all for the sake of a quick payday.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have information that can assist us with our enquiries, particularly if they can help us identify the man in this image."
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 1285 of 21/06/17, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
