A talented young magician from Shaw is starring in one of the USA's most popular entertainment shows.
Daniel Rhodes (13), better known as Dan Dan the Magic Man, was invited to Los Angeles to appear on Little Big Shots, a show which sees youngsters show off a variety of talents in front of a live audience.
Illusionist Dan is appearing in the final episode, which is being shown in the US on Wednesday.
Dan's American debut, which saw him perform a selection of magic tricks, had host Steve Harvey spellbound and earned him a rapturous standing ovation from the audience.
The show is enormously popular in the States. The first season was the NBC network's most-watched show in ten years and attracted more than 13 million viewers.
Dan and his family flew out to L.A for filming last year. Dan has also appeared on the UK version of the show, alongside Dawn French.
A YouTube clip of that performance has already racked up more than 40,000 views.
Now he is hoping his star turn will help him achieve his dream of appearing alongside Ellen Degeneres, who is one of the producers of Little Big Shots, on her incredibly popular day time talk show.
Dan said: "I only met Steve Harvey for ten minutes, but it was the best ten minutes of my life."
Loved it
Dan's mum Lisa added: "He absolutely loved it.
"He got a standing ovation and it was absolutely amazing. Everyone was just in awe of him.
"We had an absolute ball and he was treated like a star, it was absolutely brilliant.
"He's just dying to go on the Ellen show now, it would make his life."
Dan's episode is due to be broadcast in the US on Wednesday and will also be available to viewers in the UK on YouTube.
The show features a range of performances from children with a range of musical and other talents, as well as youngsters who are prodigies in areas such as anatomy, geography and even Shakespeare.
It also showcases kids who have taken the internet by storm with viral videos. Youngsters were invited from all over the world, including the UK, to take part in the second season of the show.
