PHILIP CARTER . . .died after being struck by a tram
A CHADDERTON woman accused of murdering a man who was hit by a moving tram is expected to go on trial in October.
Charrissa Loren Brown-Wellington (31) is charged with the murder of Philip Carter (pictured, above), a 30-year-old labourer from north Manchester who was fatally injured at Victoria station on Sunday night.
It's reported that, Ms Brown-Wellington, who was born in Crumpsall and lives at Whiteley Street, Chadderton, was a stranger to him.
Yesterday, at Ms Brown-Wellington's first crown court appearance, Judge David Stockdale QC set a trial date for October 30, although she was not invited to enter a plea.
Prosecutor Mark Kellet said: "There is a substantial amount of CCTV footage from Victoria station to be considered in detail."
Ms Brown-Wellington wept after entering the dock at Manchester Crown Court.
Dressed in black, she looked repeatedly at family members in the public gallery during the hearing.
Her defence barrister, Mark Ford, said it was likely that a bail application would be made on her behalf in the near future.
Judge Stockdale remanded her in custody after setting a case management date for September 7.
