FESTIVAL Oldham is back this Bank Holiday weekend and is celebrating its twentieth birthday
A FEAST of mind-boggling entertainment and interactive performances will wow crowds at Festival Oldham as it celebrates its 20th anniversary this weekend.
The festival, Oldham's annual free celebration of art, will take place on Saturday, May 27, from 11am to 4pm at various sites across the town centre and Gallery Oldham.
This year the festival takes on a culinary twist with a theme of 'feast of delights' and will include mind-boggling entertainment, food-centric fanatics and infectious music for visitors to enjoy.
Visitors can get involved with a cook off-inspired interactive comedy outdoor dance and theatre performance with "Culinary Duel" or enjoy Maypole dancing with a unique hip-hop twist from Folk Dance Remixed.
International guests "The Always Drinking Marching Band" will arrive all the way from sunny Barcelona to perform the best of brass while loveable puppet show Kit and Caboodle will be in Gallery Oldham throughout the day telling magical tales to visitors.
Oldham Parish Church will also host children's theatre, festival flag making and outdoor crafts while the town centre will feature a varied of street theatre and entertainment during the day.
Helen Lockwood, Executive Director for Economy, Skills and Neighbourhoods, said:
"Festival Oldham has been a long-standing event in the town centre and is always a real crowd pleaser.
"Every year thousands of people come to Oldham to watch the colourful acts for free.
"This year we have gone for a food theme to celebrate the opening of the new Old Town Hall and accompanying food premises.
"There's something for everyone and I hope residents and visitors come along on the day and enjoy the entertainment."
