WELL done . . . Andy Nicholls (ND Groundworks), Anne Murphy and Ponge raised £1,330
RESIDENTS affected by cancer gave up the booze to raise a bumper £1,330 for Dr Kershaw's Hospice.
Andy Nicholls, from ND Groundworks, Anne Murphy and Ponge took part in Stoptober to raise funds for the Royton-based hospice.
Owner of ND Groundworks Andy took on the challenge after losing both parents to cancer.
Last year his mum passed away in hospital and it was too late for her to stay at Dr Kershaw's, though he wishes she had had the opportunity to.
Anne, who also took part in Stoptober, was diagnosed with cancer last year and her hair has only recently grown back after treatment but she is now on the road to recovery.
Ponge has also lost family members to life-limiting illnesses.
Dr Kershaw's communications and events fundraiser Vicky Stackhouse said: "All three set themselves a challenge to raise money for the hospice to keep up its vital work for the people of Oldham.
"They raised a fantastic £1,330.
"A huge thanks goes to everyone at The Hope Anchor, Rumers Public House, The Railway and also staff of Joseph-Parrs, and to everyone who contributed and helped raise this fantastic amount."
