OLDHAM Council is launching a newtraditional market in the heart of Chadderton.
The market will take place in Chadderton Precinct, just outside Asda supermarket, starting on Wednesday.
The traders will operate between 9am to 4pm every Wednesday - giving shoppers the full day to explore the range of goods on offer.
Its history can be traced back to the 1920s when it took place every Thursday on Wellington Street.
The market continued until around 1935 and then re-started in December 1985 until around 2005.
Councillor Jean Stretton, leader of Oldham Council, said: "The market was a huge part of Chadderton's history throughout the years and we want to carry on that tradition. We need to use Oldham's markets to help keep the local economy thriving for years to come.
"I encourage everyone to visit the market and take a look at the traditional goods on offer, I certainly will."
Love Your Local Market, the national celebration of markets, takes place between May 17 to 31.
The campaign is encouraging everyone to support their local market and Oldham will be taking part.
